Teaching is a great passion of mine and it is the most rewarding feeling seeing students progress. Following a degree in Popular Music Performance at Tech Music Schools and being a professional London based drummer I have vast amounts of applicable knowledge to pass over students. I have always provided private lessons to drummers of varying ages and ability. All of this combined has given me the tools to perfect a warm, entertaining and unique teaching method.
I guarantee I will have something for everyone and can assure you I bring something new and invigorating to each lesson with every topic being relevant in today’s musical environment. It is crucial to receive lessons from teachers who have been involved in the industry to a certain level with the right experience behind them. This is where I think I can be of real use to the potential student.
The first lesson we have together will be completely free, this is to gauge where your playing is at and also gives us a chance to become acquainted. Lessons thereafter are priced at £15/30 mins. Hourly lessons would be taken into consideration at a discounted price.
Lessons will take place in a purpose built space for teaching located at my home address in East Rainton, Houghton-Le-Spring. There will be two electronic drum kits in the studio – one for each of us. There will also be space for parents / guardians to relax for the duration of the lesson, with guaranteed parking right outside the property.

BEGINNER
Perfect for beginners, these lessons will help the student understand how to hold the sticks, sit at the kit correctly and how to read drum notation through simple and newcomer friendly exercises. Each lesson is tailored to the student and follows a path of succession from lesson to lesson. It will give students the confidence to further their ability on their own using basic tools and exercises learned in these lessons. Please enjoy the attached lesson examples!
INTERMEDIATE
Picking up from beginner lessons, intermediate lessons will be giving the student a broader idea of what components make a great drum kit player grow. The student will be shown the importance of technique, rudiments and warm up exercises. Through technical exercises the student will gain more control of what they are doing. The student will be required to turn their hand to different styles and develop a basic awareness of stylistic vocabulary. Students will also gain the ability to read drum notation and rhythms on the stave.
ADVANCED
Advanced lessons will elaborate on many topics covered in intermediate lessons and be more focused on drawing creativity out of the student. There will be advanced sight reading and will really be pushing the boundaries of what’s possible behind the kit. Better control of technique is what is going to deliver a much more refined and flavourful sound from the drums. Lessons will also delve further into stylistic awareness and sticking patterns, which will give the student a broader range of musical vocabulary. Creativity, delivery and discipline is what will really take your playing to the next level.
